Recently, we had the opportunity to participate in a project to build a specialized forestry trailer equipped with a hydraulic assist drive. This drive increases the tractor-trailer's pulling power and allows for operation in difficult, mountainous terrain. IVENTEC's scope included designing the hydrostatic drive and controls, selecting components, creating the hydraulic and electrical diagrams, supplying components, and conducting commissioning and testing. The drive involved installing Poclain Hydraulics MSE08 series hydraulic motors in the wheels, using a closed-loop PMe50 series pump with a built-in controller to control the drive operation, and valve blocks allowing the operator to switch to "freewheel" mode, synchronizing all wheels and preventing wheel slippage during operation. The system automatically responds to the tractor's pulling power and disengages above a certain speed, allowing for high-speed travel.
